Maestro S.D. Burman composed a number of Bengali songs initially, which later on inspired him to create beautiful Hindi songs for Films. 'Barne gandhe chhande gititte' is one such Bengali song on which Burman Dada created 'Pholon ke rang se' Hindi song for 'Prem Pujari' in 1970.

In an interview, Music Director Shantanu Moitra (Parineeta -2005) told us about S.D. Burman's tunes:
"The simplicity and the authority of the composition, which is not marred by arrangement, which is not marred by sound; he (Burman Dada) had the confidence of pulling off a song – with just with one ektara, one khol, one tabla. That’s the command of the composer! I mean, that is what inspires me the most."

The singer here is Girindra Majumdar from Agartala (Tripura) who has studied Burman Dada's Bangla music and sings his songs with dedication. In 2006, Girindra ji was honoured with 'Sachin Sanman Award. Singlehandedly, Girindra ji has produced a documentary on his idol S.D. Burman in Bengali, which now he is trying to add English sub-titles for larger audience.
